THAILAND GMDSS STATION

Dunstan and Associates recently completed a GMDSS A1, A2 and A3 coast station in Thailand.

The station is part of a new vessel traffic management system installed at the port of Laem Chabang, south of Bangkok.

The station has 3 by 1000 watt MF/HF transmitters, 10 MF/HF receivers, 2 remote VHF sites and a duplicated Digital Selective Calling (DSC) system.

The MF/HF radio systems were supplied by  Barrett Communications  and the DSC system by TransOceana

A station configuration diagram is shown below:

The receivers are installed in a rack at the control centre.  7 receivers are dedicated to DSC (6 operational and a hot spare) and 3 receivers are for radiotelephone.

The 3 MF/HF transmitters are located remotely at a transmitting site approximatley 2 km from the operations centre.  The VHF radios are located on islands to the north and south of the operations centre.
